The Disney Voice Over
We’re all huge Disney Park fans over here. When, in 2020 we weren’t able to go, my husband discovered A.J., the narrator of YouTube channel Disney Food Blog (DFB). This isn’t just about food. It’s everything Disney. And boy, oh boy, if we weren’t brainwashed before, we are now.
One day, as I was listening to my cat cough up another hairball, I wished my life had a little of the sparkle of a Disney Park. And I wondered what A.J. would say if she were narrating me and my surroundings? I thought about it, and I feel better! Take a listen!
Hi there! This is A.J. from the Byrd House Blog, here to share with you all things Byrd. In today’s episode we’re going to start by taking a look at two of the iconic features in the home. On entering the living/dining room area your eyes will naturally be drawn to the view outside, but don’t forget to look down! Beneath your feet is the original, once cream-colored, carpet that has been here since opening day. Renovations are planned but the date has not yet been announced because of the other iconic feature snoring in the corner.
This of course, is Tigger, the resident feline and house mascot. A little interesting trivia –Tigger is a big fellow, weighing 18 pounds and he is also 18 years old. Rumor has it that the Byrds are waiting until that sad day when he goes to that great litter box in the sky to replace the carpet. So be sure to make arrangements to see this original horror, er…carpet soon. Don’t forget that those granted admission into the Byrd house are contractually obligated to pet Tigger constantly. Don’t miss his white tummy. It’s extra soft and is available seven days a week.
Of course, here at the Byrd House Blog, we’re all about the food, and in this house, there is plenty of that!
If you’re in the mood for a treat, you’re in luck. Possibly due to the mother of all prolonged menopausal sugar cravings, the treats are bigger, better and more chocolatey than ever. Check out the hidden chocolate stash in the hallway pantry! This oversized glass cookie jar is the place where all candy comes to rest. From time to time, the man of the house tries to reduce the size of the stash by sharing it with friends and family, but we’ve noticed that the lady of the house is only outwardly compliant with these efforts. In truth, she guards that stash like a dragon. But don’t let that stop you from sampling! She genuinely welcomes anyone to take as much as they like anytime. This sounds generous, but we suspect it’s just an excuse to buy more chocolate. There is no danger of this jar ever running short.
But that’s not to say you can’t find healthy treats! In the fridge you can find the standard supply of vegetables and sometimes even tofu alongside the hot fudge sauce. There’s also a surprising quantity of grapes. The man of the house buys more bags almost daily. These take up a lot of room, and we’re not really sure what’s going on with him, but the lady of the house puts up with it, because really, he’s been a good sport about the chocolate stash.
The refrigerator itself is a nod to the beloved Dr. Who television series. Fans will remember that the Tardis is a sort of spaceship that has an inside much bigger than its outside. The Byrd refrigerator is just like this only in reverse. Despite the refrigerator’s outward appearance, it is much, much smaller on the inside than the outside would indicate. This arrangement provides the owners with hours of fun as they play “refrigerator Tetris” with their food.
That’s all we have time for today. Be sure to see us next time on the Byrd House Blog when we’ll talk about why the bathroom lights are off-center, and why Tigger surprisingly, was not responsible for the weasel heads under the bed.
